I'm playing in a worship band at my church (we mostly do Hillsong United type stuff) and I'm wanting to get a combo amp to use (I have a half stack now that is a little too much for church.) While I would like to keep it a a good price (like $750 or less) I would also like for it to be a tube amp because quality is the most important factor to me. Any suggestions?

Yes, playing in a church setting is difficult, mainly because of volume. Many class A tube amps like Bad Cat or Matchless sound amazing but only when you can crank it enough to get the right tone. I had a 15W Bad Cat that was too loud for a church that could seat over 700. Some people use a "power soak" or attenuator to tackle this problem or more often, they will run the amp off stage and mic it. Another great solution for church is to get an iso cab which is setup to receive the signal from the amp and has a built in speaker and mic. Try looking at the Randal Isolation With a 12" Celestion Vintage 30 and get a Sennheiser e906 mic instead of the Shure sm57. With this setup, anyone can bring their amp of choice and plug it right on in. This is a great option for a church that is worried about volume and has multiple electric players.

As far as amps, there are many of course from which to choose. For the best possible tone, you'll want a tube amp. Class A tube amps are quite a bit of $, so you'd need to get a used one. Other amps for that price range though that I would consider is a Vox AC30. This is a standard amp amongst worship electric players and has good control over volume and gain. If you want a bit more of a "bite"," look into Orange amps. Even their smaller ones pack a punch and sound great. Don't hesitate to try out as many as you can. Every one has a bit of a different preference.
